5 Tips for a Successful Self-Tape

With SO many auditions out lately, it's been hard to keep up with all of them!

It seems like just overnight we went from no auditions, to all virtual work, to auditions for everything under the sun popping up all over!

How do you keep track of all your submissions to make sure you don't miss anything?!

Here are the top five tips that I myself use when it comes to a busy audition season...

1.) Write them down. When you see an audition that interests you, write it down!

2.) Note the submission deadline, what the audition calls for, and for any details like slating, recording setup, etc.

3.) Plan a free time to record before the deadline.

4.) Don't wait til the last minute - don't forget that recording the submission is only the first step - you also need to edit and upload it!

5.) Last but not least, give yourself a cut-off. If you are a perfectionist like myself, you will record until your voice is good and tired, and your body aches from recording the dance combo over and over.

I try my best to stick to the 3-Take-Rule:

Record each song/side/dance combo 3 times each, and then move on. I rarely find that I get a good take after my 3rd time because my voice is tired, my body is weary, and I start getting impatient! :P
