Chat with a Casting Director
This past Friday I got to speak with Shane Hall, director, choreographer, and casting director about his advice to performers on everything from auditions to the pandemic to dance styles. If you missed the live, (and I hope you can go back and watch because this info is so vital for every performer!) I have the bullet points below!
Re-cap with Shane:
Dance technique training should be as in depth as the music in your audition book. (Hop hop, ballet, contemporary, tap, etc)
Dos: Be prepared and confident when you walk in
Donts: Wear flip flops, wear short dresses, ask if they prefer song or monologue first, wear excessive jewelry, or look sloppy

Advice for actors during this down time: get in class, take virtual voice lessons, stay hungry, do the busy work work now, so that when we get back to doing what we love, you're already ahead of the game.
