The Importance of a Web Presence as an Actor
If there is nothing else I have learned from submitting for digital submissions throughout this pandemic, it is the importance of having a portfolio of your work in ONE place that casting directors can have easy access to.
I have seen far too many talented actors who have their work spread all over different websites and Youtube channels. Don't get me wrong, having a Facebook page, Instagram, Youtube channel and Backstage page is great, but I'm gonna be honest with you - casting directors need an easy way to search for you - and if all of your content is spread over multiple channels, they are far less likely to take the time to dive into finding and searching for all that content.
Why not have a website that is specific to you and your brand, where you can keep all your reels, production photos, contact info, resume, bio, and more in one single place?
Kate Lumpkin, New York casting director, said it best, " Remember, you can't be hired if we don't know how to find you! So start working on making your site specific, special, and most importantly available!" She went on to mention that an easy-to-find website is crucial and beneficial for an actor, especially during this age of digital casting.
